the 20/20 - July 2005

Life is a Cabaret...
AMANDA PALMER of the Dresden Dolls
"At this moment, my most memorable experience is probably the chocolate I just ate."

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness: having no answer for this question.

If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be and what would you do?
I'd be a man with a fair-sized cock and whack off all day. Maybe go to the bar and pick up some girls.

What has been your most memorable experience?
At this moment, my most memorable experience is probably the chocolate I just ate.

What is the one trait that you hate most about yourself?
My carelessness.

What is the one trait that you hate most about others?
I try not to. I find myself losing patience around folks with little self-awareness. Can't stand violent short tempers, either.

What is your greatest extravagance?
Smoking cigarettes.

In what way would you prefer to die?
Old and asleep.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Wealth.

Which time period or event (past or future) would you most like to visit?
Ooh. I'd love to check out 1500-1600 in Europe.

What is your greatest regret?
College.

When and where were you the happiest?
I was pretty happy in 1996, when I lived and loved in Germany. I felt real for the first time in my life.

What do you consider your greatest achievement so far?
My stable friendship with Mr. Brian Viglione and our band.

If there is 'life after death', what would you choose to come back as?
Myself, there's endless work to be done.

What is your most treasured possession?
My first composition book from the tenth grade.

Which natural gift or ability would you most like to possess?
I would kill to be able to sight-read music fluently.

What is your most marked characteristic?
You tell me. The eyebrows have been giving me away lately.

What is the strangest dream you have ever had?
I had a dream the other night that our manager had eight terminal illnesses. Not fun.

How would you describe the perfect room for yourself?
Cluttered but clean, dark but full of natural light, full of old things and music.

Who would you most like to fight?
Avril.

What is your motto?
Audentes fortuna juvat. Fortune aids the daring.
